Cataract surgeon, Lori Moore, MD, uses the latest technique in performing cataract surgery. Using only a topical anesthetic to numb the eye, the surgeon creates a small incision and uses high-energy sound waves to break the cataract into microscopic particles, which are then removed from the eye. To compensate for the removal of the eye's natural lens, an intra-ocular lens (IOL) is implanted into the eye.
